By using Gebeya, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms apply to all users including clients and freelancers.
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Each account should represent one individual.
We reserve the right to investigate and take action — including suspension — against accounts we reasonably believe are being used to circumvent these terms, including through multiple registrations.
Freelancers are responsible for delivering services as described. Clients must provide clear requirements. Gebeya is not responsible for the quality of work delivered by freelancers.
Payments are processed by Chapa, our payment provider. You pay on Chapa's secure page using telebirr, CBE Birr, M-Pesa, a card or a bank transfer.
Money paid for an order is held in escrow. It is not passed to the freelancer when the work is delivered. It is released when the client approves the work; automatically 72 hours after delivery if the client neither approves it, asks for a revision, nor opens a dispute; or by Gebeya when a dispute is resolved. Clients should review delivered work within that 72-hour window.
Gebeya charges a commission of 5% of the order amount. The freelancer receives the remaining 95%.
Released earnings are not sent to you automatically. They build up as an available balance, and you withdraw them when you choose. To withdraw you must first add your bank details, and the minimum withdrawal is 100 ETB.
Withdrawals are paid by bank transfer through Chapa to the account you provided. Getting those details right is your responsibility — money sent to a wrong but valid account number cannot be recovered by us. For your security, a withdrawal cannot be made within 24 hours of changing your bank details.
Users must not share contact information inside chats to bypass the platform. Fraud, harassment, spam or any illegal activity is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension.
If a disagreement arises between a client and freelancer, either party may open a dispute on the order at any time before it is completed. Gebeya will review disputed orders and make a determination based on the information available — either releasing the payment to the freelancer or refunding it to the client. While a dispute is open, the money stays in escrow and is not released to either party.
This decision is final within the platform's dispute process. Nothing in this section limits your rights under Ethiopian law.
Gebeya is a marketplace platform and is not liable for any damages resulting from transactions between users. We do not guarantee the quality of services listed on the platform.
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Gebeya after changes means you accept the new terms. We will notify users of major changes.
Nothing in these terms — including the limitation of liability above — removes or limits any right you have under Ethiopian law, or any remedy available to you under it.
Where any part of these terms conflicts with a protection the law gives you, the law applies and that part does not. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. Any disputes will be resolved under Ethiopian law.
